Happy Constitution and Citizenship Day – My 50th Year as a U.S. Citizen

Constitution and Citizenship Day is observed each year on this day to commemorate the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787 and “recognize all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.” This year’s Citizenship Day is especially important to me as I celebrate 50 years as a citizen.

In celebration of this milestone, I encourage those who are citizens and permanent residents who are about to become American citizens, to reflect on your rights and responsibilities of citizenship and what it means to be a U.S. citizen. In these times, those rights and responsibilities are as important as ever. Thank you and happy Constitution and Citizenship Day!
