With DACA renewal time on the horizon, it is important to prepare:
- If you have dropped out of school, graduated, or changed programs, make sure your attorney is aware of this. Your change in education status could affect your DACA eligibility. DACA is for people with a high school diploma, graduate equivalency diploma (GED) or persons studying for the high school degree. You must stay in a school program until you have a high school or high school equivalency diploma.
- Contact your attorney if you have been arrested for or convicted of a crime since your DACA was approved. You will need to advise your attorney of any arrests or convictions to determine if you are eligible to renew your DACA. Don’t wait until the last minute to do this.
- Let your attorney know if there are any major changes in your life and talk to your attorney to find out if you may be eligible for any additional forms of relief.
